Biscuits & Gravy

Ingredients

1 package (160z) spicy breakfast sausage or Italian or sage sausage

3 tablespoons high quality grass fed butter

1/4 cup all purpose flour

3-4 cups whole milk (or nut milk of choosing)

Himalayan salt, pepper, cayenne, cajun seasoning (optional) smoked paprika (optional)

*To make this recipe vegan simply use vegan butter, coconut milk & plant based sausage. Be sure to double seasonings to compensate for the lack of fat absorbing the flavor.

Directions

  1. In a large pot heat burner to medium/low heat add a bit of oil or don’t

  2. When pot is hot add sausage, cook through, transfer to plate with paper towel to drain excess oil

  3. Do not wash out pot, add in butter, melt

  4. Slowly whisk in flour to make the rue

  5. Add in, slowly(!) 1 1/2 cups of milk, slowly mixing

  6. After mixed add in the rest of the milk, 1 1/2 cups

  7. Continue stirring until gravy thickens (approx. 10 minutes) once thickened add in sausage

  8. Season with s&p and seasonings of choice

  9. Serve with biscuits of your choosing
